Use the builder below to create a free event calendar for your Google Sites website. Pick a template, click “Continue with this template” and add your events.
Schools, clubs, sports teams, nonprofits and internal company sites run on Google Sites, and most of them need to share a schedule: term dates, practices, matches, volunteer days and all-hands meetings. This calendar shows those events with images, venues and hosts, as a list, a grid or a month view. It also syncs with Google Calendar, so if your group already keeps events there, the site stays up to date without extra work.
How to add an Event Calendar widget to Google Sites
1. Create your widget
- Choose a template: pick one of 17, such as Club Events, Upcoming Webinars, Convention Center, Movie Show Schedule or Slider Exhibition.
- Add your events: connect Google Calendar to sync them automatically, or enter them by hand. Add descriptions, images, file attachments such as a permission slip, or a sign-up button.
- Organize them: add event types, hosts and venues, for example home and away games or different school year groups.
- Pick a layout: List, Grid, Masonry, Slider, Month, Week or Day. Set the maximum width, font and background, and choose whether past events stay visible.
- Save it: click “Add to website for free“, sign up on the next page and copy your embed code.

2. Add it to your Google Site
- Open your site in Google Sites and go to the page where the calendar should appear.
- In the Insert panel on the right, click Embed, then open the Embed code tab.
- Paste the calendar code and click Next, then Insert.
- Drag the edges of the embed box until the whole calendar fits. The calendar only shows inside this box, so a Month layout needs a tall box and a List needs room for every event you show.
- Publish the site and check the page on a computer and on a phone.
Where to put the Event Calendar widget on your Google Site
- On a school or class site: term dates, exams, trips and parent evenings in a Month layout.
- On a club or team site: practices, matches and socials, with venues so members know where to go.
- On a nonprofit site: volunteer days and fundraisers, each with a sign-up button.
- On an internal company site: training sessions, all-hands meetings and office events, with hosts listed.
Do you need a paid Google Sites plan?
No. Embed code works on any Google Site. Every embed is boxed in its own isolated frame, though, and there’s no way to add code to every page at once. So the calendar shows only on the page where you insert it, inside the box you size. If you want it on several pages, insert the same code on each one.
The widget has its own free plan: one widget, up to 200 views a month on unlimited websites, with a small Elfsight link. Paid widget plans start at $5 a month, billed yearly, for more views and no branding.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add an event calendar to Google Sites for free?
Yes. Google Sites accepts embed code, and the widget’s free plan includes one widget with up to 200 views a month on unlimited websites, with a small Elfsight link. Paid plans start at $5 a month, billed yearly.
Why is my calendar cut off on Google Sites?
The embed box is smaller than the calendar. Click the box in the editor, drag its edges until the full calendar fits, and publish again.
Can it show events from our Google Calendar?
Yes. Connect Google Calendar in the builder and events sync automatically, so new events added to that calendar appear on your Google Sites page.
What if the calendar doesn’t load on Google Sites?
Check that you pasted the code in the Embed code tab and that the box is big enough, then view the published page rather than the editor. If the script still won’t load, try the widget’s iframe version where one is available.
Do I need to edit the site when events change?
No. Edit events in your Elfsight dashboard or in the connected Google Calendar. The calendar on your site updates on its own, so you don’t need to republish Google Sites.
