Use the builder below to create a free menu for your Google Sites page. Pick a template, click “Continue with this template” and add your dishes.
On Google Sites, a menu usually belongs to something other than a restaurant: the school cafeteria’s lunch menu, the staff canteen on a company intranet, the clubhouse bar, a nonprofit’s community café or a fundraiser dinner. This widget lists each item with its price, photo, badges and nutrition info. Whoever manages the Elfsight account can update it from the dashboard, so the menu stays current without anyone editing the Google Site.
How to add a Restaurant Menu widget to Google Sites
1. Create your widget
- Choose a template: Coffee House, Family Restaurant or Healthy Restaurant suit cafeterias and cafés. Click “Continue with this template“.
- Add your menus: in the Menus tab, click “Add Menu” for each one. A school or canteen can add one menu per weekday.
- Add items: click “Add item” and enter the caption, price, image and badges, plus calories, fat, carbs and protein if you want to show them.
- Choose tabs: showing menus as tabs keeps the widget compact, which matters inside a Google Sites embed box. Then set the color scheme, accent color and font.
- Save it: click “Add to website for free“, sign up and copy your embed code.

2. Add it to your Google Site
- Open your site in Google Sites and go to the page for the menu.
- In the Insert panel on the right, click Embed.
- Open the Embed code tab, paste the menu code, click Next and then Insert.
- Drag the edges of the embed box so the tallest menu tab fits. The box doesn’t grow when a longer tab opens.
- Publish the site and click through each tab on a computer and a phone.
Where to put the Restaurant Menu widget on your Google Site
- On a school’s parents or students page, with this week’s lunch menu, one tab per day.
- On a company intranet, with the canteen menu next to its opening times.
- On a club or team page, with clubhouse bar or match-day snack prices.
- On a nonprofit or fundraiser page, with the menu for a community café or charity dinner.
Do you need a paid Google Sites plan?
There’s no Google Sites plan to upgrade. The limit on Google Sites is technical: every embed sits in its own isolated box, and the menu stays inside it. Size the box for your tallest tab, and remember that an item popup opens inside the box, not over the page. Google Sites also has no way to add code to every page at once, so add an embed on each page where you want the menu.
If the menu doesn’t load, check that the code was pasted in the Embed code tab and the box is large enough. If a script widget still won’t load, the widget’s iframe version (where one exists) is the usual fix. The widget’s free plan covers one widget with up to 200 views a month on unlimited websites, with a small Elfsight link; paid plans start at $5 a month, billed yearly.
Restaurant Menu widget features
- Several menus in one widget, for example one per day or one per meal.
- Prices, photos and badges for every item.
- Nutrition info: calories, fat, carbs and protein.
- Layouts: menus as tabs or a list; sections as a list, masonry or tabs.
- Light, dark or custom color schemes, an accent color and a font.
Frequently asked questions
Why is part of the menu cut off on Google Sites?
The embed box is shorter than the menu, often because it was sized for a shorter tab. Drag the box’s edges until the tallest tab fits, then publish again.
Can I update the weekly menu without editing the Google Site?
Yes. Change the items in your Elfsight dashboard and save. The menu on your Google Site updates on its own, so nobody needs to open the site editor or paste the code again.
Can I show calories for school or canteen meals?
Yes. Each item can show total calories, fat, carbs and protein, plus badges. You can hide any item element you don’t need in the item settings.
Can the menu appear on every page of my Google Site?
Not automatically. Google Sites can’t add code to every page at once. Insert an embed on each page where you want the menu; the same code works on each page.
Is it free for a school or club site?
Yes. The free plan includes one widget with up to 200 views a month, with a small Elfsight branding link. Paid plans start at $5 a month, billed yearly, if your site gets more visits.
